Schedule a training.

Rainbow Alliance

The Rainbow Alliance is a student organization that provides for the needs and interests of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual (and more!) community at Pitt and beyond through advocacy, education, and social opportunities.

Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies Program

Pitt's Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies Program is committed to promoting feminist and LGBTQIA+ activism, pedagogy, and scholarship that engage with the larger local, national, and global communities. Program offerings provide opportunities for students and faculty to explore the historical development, cultural variations, and changing representations of gender and sexuality as they organize identities, interactions, and institutions and intersect in complex ways with sex, race, class, ethnicity, ability, age, religion, and nation.

Transgender Working Group

The Transgender Working Group was established in 2016 in an effort to ensure that all University community members feel respected and valued.  The Transgender Working Group is comprised of faculty, staff and students from various groups and departments including: Academic Affairs, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, Facilities, Housing, Rainbow Alliance, and Student Affairs.  The group studies best practices in higher education, evaluates current University processes, and makes recommendations for creating a more inclusive campus for transgender individuals.  The Working Group has implemented trainings for staff and faculty, responded to individual concerns or issues, and provided guidance on university wide initiatives such as the preferred name initiative.

If you have questions about the group or if you would like to bring an issue to the Working Group’s attention, please email: crb103@pitt.edu
