Hispanic Languages and Literature Department
The Department's Latin American specialization has existed for more than 25 years. The undergraduate program in Hispanic Languages and Literatures is flexible and diverse to meet the needs of students with varying interests and career goals. The University of Pittsburgh's graduate program in Hispanic Languages and Literatures is one of the top graduate programs in Latin American literature and cultural studies in the United States.
The International Institute of Latin American Literature welcomes all institutions and individuals interested in Latin American letters and culture, without regard to race, creed or nationality.
Latin American Studies Association (LASA)
The largest professional association in the world for individuals and institutions engaged in the study of Latin America. LASA's mission is to foster intellectual discussion, research, and teaching on Latin America, the Caribbean, and its people throughout the Americas; to promote the interests of its diverse membership; and to encourage civic engagement through network building and public debate. The Pitt Library houses the Eduardo Lozano Latin American Collection which supports the research and teaching of Latin American Studies at the University of Pittsburgh, particularly the interdisciplinary programs sponsored and coordinated by the Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS).
